Connecting rods, also known as “conrods”, are a critical plunger pump component that help to convert the rotary movement of the crankshaft to the reciprocating movement by the plunger. The larger conrod bearing, known as the “big end bearing” connects to the crankshaft pins, whilst the smaller bearing (small end) typically connects to a crosshead component, which is fixed to the reciprocating plunger.
Our engineers have a lot of experience in designing connecting rods for plunger pumps and we also have access to a wide range of stocked automotive conrods (used in piston engines) that can often be drafted in to your pump design. Connecting rods can be supplied in the cast condition, which is generally the preferred choice of OEM customers, or forge-machined for improved strength.
